You might not know who Yayoi Kusama is but you might have seen her work last year in Singapore.

Yayoi Kusama's Ascension of Polka Dots on the Trees at the Singapore Biennale 2006 on Orchard Road.

Here, you see her latest installations using mirrors to great effect.

And, this artist now lives in a mental hospital in Tokyo.

An over-zealous gardener?

This is the modern take of the Babylonian Hanging Gardens.

At 200 meters long and 12 meters tall, this vertical garden is an impressive permanent and living installation at the Musée Du Quai Branly in Paris. The "living wall" was designed and planted by Patrick Blanc and forms the facade of the museum which was designed by enigmatic French architect Jean Nouvel.

The Seduction Of Paris 01

Thought I'd share some of the shots I took while holidaying in Paris. Paris by night is truly mersmerising. There is something magical and flirtatious in the air at night while you stroll around the city, and utterly euphoric waking up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked baguettes.

The Eiffel Tower

By day and by night. The tower bursts into a shower of scintillating lights every hour each evening. The wind really picked up and got pretty nippy as I ascended. I could actually feel the tower sway at certain times.

Named after it's designer Gustave Eiffel, it is the tallest Parisian landmark. At the time the tower was built, many people were shocked by its daring shape. Gustave Eiffel was criticized for the design and accused of trying to create something artistic, or inartistic according to the viewer, without regard to engineering. *Amazing.*

“	Now to what phenomenon did I give primary concern in designing the Tower? It was wind resistance. Well then! I hold that the curvature of the monument's four outer edges, which is as mathematical calculation dictated it should be (...) will give a great impression of strength and beauty, for it will reveal to the eyes of the observer the boldness of the design as a whole.	”

Moulin Rouge

Chanced upon the Moulin Rouge in the red light district of Pigalle, Paris, one afternoon while on our way out from visiting Montmartre (one of two principal artistic centers of Paris). Went back again to experience the sex stretch at night when it comes alive with sparkling gold lights, suggestive scarlet and titillating mauve.

Mouling Rouge is French for 'Red Mill' or 'Windmill'. It is a traditional cabaret, built in 1889 by Joseph Oller. Much of the romance from turn-of-the-century France is still present in the club's decor. The Moulin Rouge was also the subject of paintings by post-impressionist painter Toulouse Lautrec. *Pleasure for all senses. A city of Art, romance, sex and food. On their own, or altogether. This is the Parisian way of life.*

Highlights on tattoos and the art form.

Completely invisible under broad daylight and normal lighting, UV tattoos are a great way to get inked without having the trace of getting one done. That is, except under a blacklight. These UV tattoos are particularly popular in raver subculture. There are a myriad of UV blacklight colours. From green to purple to pink to yellow.
I remember a good friend of mine back in secondary school who set her right breast aglow with a paw print UV tattoo. Turned out pretty neat. When used alone, the results are surprising, a tease. When traditional and UV ink are used creatively together; much like a highlighter, it's nothing short of stunning. Aren't you just itching to get inked now? I know I am.

The Opposite by Tom MacRae

When Nate woke up one morning, The Opposite was standing on his ceiling, staring down at him. "You can't stand on the ceiling, " said Nate. "Get down!"

But The Opposite happened, and it stayed where it was.

"Dad!" cried Nate. "There's an Opposite on my ceiling!" "Where?" said Nate's Dad, poking his head round the door. "There!" said Nate, pointing upwards. BUT, the Opposite had already disappeared, and it wasn't there anymore. "Come on Nate," said Nate's dad. "You don't usually make up stories to stay in bed."

Nate came downstairs to start his breakfast. His mum poured out a bowlful of cornflakes. "You can do the milk yourself," she said. Nate always did his own milk. It was one of the things he was best at. Nate took the milk in both hands and gently poured it over the cereal.
But then, The Opposite happened...

Instead of the milk pouring down, it poured UP, splashing all over the ceiling , then dripping down again all over the tablecloth. The Opposite grinned in the corner. "Oh Nate!" said Nate's mum. "Look what you've done!" "It wasn't me!" cried Nate. "It was The Opposite over there!" And Nate pointed at the corner.

But The Opposite had already happened, and it wasn't there anymore. "Come on Nate!" said Nate's mum. "You're not usually so clumsy."

Nate walked into school and got ready for the first lesson. Nate's teacher asked the children to paint a picture of their favorite animal. Nate decided to paint an elephant. he took out his paint and paper and brush, and made a start. But then The Opposite happened.

Instead of the paint going on the paper, it went on Nate's head. Then on the floor. then on the walls. Then on his teacher. the paint went everywhere, except on the paper, which stayed as blank and clean as ever.

The Opposite giggled from under the teacher's desk, right by the teacher's legs. "Oh Nate!" said the teacher. "You're usually not so messy." "it wasn't me!" cried Nate. 'It was The Opposite under there!" And Nate pointed at the teacher's desk.But The Opposite had already happened, and it wasn't there anymore.

Nate stopped and thought for a moment. Then he had an idea. Slowly, he pointed at the empty space in front of him. "I mean to say,"said Nate, "that there ISN'T and Opposite standing right in front of my finger. But then, The Opposite happened.

Suddenly, The Opposite WAS standing right in front of Nate. It blinked with surprise, and it looked a little worried. "I mean to say," said Nate. "That the work I have already done today is messy and untidy."
But then The Opposite happened.

The Opposite bared its teeth, but it was too late. Nate's painting was now as tidy and perfect as you please. "And," said Nate, smiling, "I mean to say that I have SO enjoyed having The Opposite with me today, and I DO ever hope it will stay around for ever and ever and EVER!" But then The Opposite happened...

With a shriek.....and a hiss....The Opposite disappeared in a puff of green and yellow smoke. And that was that.

Very quickly, Nate's teacher and the rest of Nate's class persuaded themselves that they had never sen The Opposite and none of it had ever happened. But Nate knew what had happened, and now you do too. And if you ever met an Opposite, you will know how to deal with it.

The next morning, when Nate woke up, The Opposite was standing on his ceiling, staring down at him. "Oh good" said Nate. "I hope this story goes on for ever and EVER!"
